About Us

Keystone Inspector Prep was created by a working building inspector who understands what it is like to prepare for ICC certification exams while working in the construction and building-safety field.

My background includes hands-on construction experience in framing, plumbing, building inspection, and code enforcement, along with studying for and completing ICC certification exams myself. That experience showed me that passing an open-book code exam is about more than memorizing information. You need to know how to navigate the code book, recognize what a question is asking, find the applicable section, and do it efficiently under a time limit.

That is the idea behind Keystone Inspector Prep.

Built From Real Exam Preparation

I created these guides because I wanted study material that focused on the way these exams are actually approached.

Instead of filling pages with unnecessary explanations or questions that are difficult to locate in the code book, Keystone guides focus on direct, code-driven practice.

The goal is to help you become faster and more confident at:

  • Identifying important keywords in a question

  • Navigating code books efficiently

  • Locating applicable sections and tables

  • Understanding common code requirements

  • Practicing under exam-style time constraints

  • Building confidence with open-book testing

Accuracy Comes First

Each Keystone study guide is developed around the applicable code edition and exam subject.

Questions are designed to test specific code requirements and are paired with code references so you can practice finding the answer yourself.

The objective is not simply to give you hundreds of questions. It is to provide useful questions that strengthen the skills you will actually need on exam day.

Made for Inspectors and Future Inspectors

Whether you are pursuing your first ICC certification, adding another certification, moving into inspection or plan review, or simply strengthening your code knowledge, Keystone Inspector Prep is designed to give you a structured way to prepare.

I continue to work in the building-safety profession, so Keystone is being developed from the perspective of someone who uses codes and inspections in the real world—not simply from the perspective of a test-prep publisher.

The Goal

The goal of Keystone Inspector Prep is simple:

Make code exam preparation clearer, more focused, and more useful.

Study the code. Learn how to find the answer. Build your confidence. Pass the exam.

Welcome to Keystone Inspector Prep.

Keep studying. Keep advancing. Find your way into the Winner’s Circle.
